kristy and blair / a pounamu teaser

what a day.

i was fortunate enough to be invited into kristy and blair’s life for the day they got married – a perfect day overlooking the stunning burleigh heads.

i also had the chance to learn a little about another culture.

here’s a teaser

N.B. ‘pounamu’ is the traditional Māori name for New Zealand jade, also known as greenstone. it is only found in the south island of NZ and is of great significance in their culture and considered treasure. this is the surprise gift given from kristy to blair.

katherine and daniel / our feet are the same

she knew he was going to be nervous.

‘would you mind giving Dan a message from me..?’ Katherine asked as I was about to head to the ceremony.

‘sure, no problems’

‘tell him…our feet are the same’

there was a reassuring sense of relief when I passed it on moments before the ceremony. it was almost like seeing a massive weight lifted off his shoulders.

I didn’t know what it meant – and still don’t – but it was a great moment and something that obviously means a great between them.

peter and dannelly / a lennox head wedding

Peter and Dannelly were married in a beautifully understated ceremony near Boulders Beach, Lennox in front of about 30 of their closest family and friends including many who had travelled from Danny’s native Peru. Being asked to capture and tell their story was a great honour.

I have a real thing for personal vows.

I am so inspired by hearing couples express their feelings through words they’ve taken the time to hand craft.

Without understanding the words at the time, hearing Dannelly commit to Peter in Spanish was something else. Witnessing the genuine love and sincerity that she delivered her vows with was truly moving.

My wife and I will be renewing our vows next year to celebrate 10 wonderful years of marriage, and the words will be written by us.

Here’s a little of Peter and Dannelly’s day through their ‘coming soon’ teaser…

In Spanish:
prometo amarte y respetarte en todo momento,
prometo serte fiel y acompañarte en los momentos buenos y en los momentos malos,
prometo darte lo mejor de mi para hacerte feliz tanto como tu me haces feliz a mi…

and in English:
I promise to love and respect you at all times
I promise to be faithful and to be with you in good and bad times
I promise to give you the best of me to make you happy as much as you make me happy…
