ok - so this little section is all ‘about me'

to be honest this is quite the bizarre experience. I've found writing an ‘about me' page somewhat daunting.

you'd think it'd be easy.

I'm comfortable telling other peoples stories but now it's time to pen my own somehow the narrative doesn't come so easily (without it starting to sound like a singles ad)

but anyway, that's not why you're here …so here 'tis. a little ‘about me'

amongst other things, i'm a son, a husband, and a dad. i am extremely fortunate to have a beautiful, supportive wife and family. my gorgeous kids keep me endlessly challenged, inspired and entertained...

how it started

A passion for imagery runs deeps through my family. My grandfather was among the first in Australia to own an 8mm film camera. Likewise, my father was an early adopter when video cameras became widely available, forever with his eye to the viewfinder :)

I have siblings, cousins, uncles and aunties that are all very talented photographers so I guess you could say it's been imprinted in my makeup.

I still remember my first real ‘editing' experiences, sitting down with a pair of VHS recorders, hooking them up to one another - one as a player, one as recorder and clunkily ‘editing' together a few sports video clips being amazed at what could be created.

the spark ignited and I knew I wanted to be able to tell real stories.

it's been a steady stream of equipment, education and experience ever since and i've loved every minute of it. i'm so fortunate to be doing what i do.

my approach to weddings

For me, it's so much more than just being there for xxx # of hours ‘filming events'. it is so much more.

it's about being present in the moment. seamlessly interacting. noticing details and being able to see things, to really see them, capture them in a meaningful way and extract the essence out of the day. the real meaning.

when the day is over it's about being able to combine and weave all these elements into an immersive, meaningful and emotive piece of art.

as much as i love them and they do have their place, for me true wedding 'cinema' is not just about that 'über cool' or ‘epic shot' just for the sake of it. for me, I'm much more drawn to real, unstaged moments.

shared conversations, little glances, an impromtu cuddle or a great speech - this is where it's at for me.

there are so many genuine, true and organic moments at each and every wedding and when the day's over these are the things that will mean so much more to you.

truly unique

every piece I produce is handcrafted and 100% unique. no templates. no cookie cutters and definitely no dated 'wedding video' clichés.

i have no desire to become a 'sausage factory' type studio so I put a limit on the number of weddings I shoot each year.

what next..?

if what you've seen here resonates with you; if you felt emotion while watching the pieces here; if you felt a connection to my work then pick up the phone and give me a call. (you can email too if you prefer...)

I would love to chat with you about your wedding because while this page is about me, what i do is really all about you.

some random, (some would say irrelevant info)

My personal cinematic tastes are a massive contradiction - equal part Adam Sandler and David Attenborough

I'm fascinated by ants going about their everyday business

I don't have a bucket list but when I do it will have Bora Bora on it

my 2 favourite places in New York are Carnegie Deli and B&H photo video

one of my favourite things about being a dad is building sandcastles on the beach. a little difficult to get away with without kids.

the word on the street is that I still sometimes like pineapple on my pizza…shhh
